MY FAVOURIE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #59: JOSH OSHO FT. GHOSTFACE KILLAH – REDEMPTION DAYS

Josh Osho is the next big name in UK music. Signed to Universal Island Records, the perfect place for fresh urban acts such as Josh who are destined for greatness.

After a recent performance on BBC music programme ‘Live with Jools Holland’ Josh managed to pick up a whole new fan base away from the usual ‘urban crowd’. Josh’s music is so accessible to all audiences, from lovers of Soul, R&B through to Jazz. It’s just brilliant.

Redemption Days, which features rap veteran Ghostface Killah, was released back in 2011 but has recently been play listed on UK station BBC Radio 1 and so is set for a re release, it deserves to be heard and is PERFECT for the summer with the uplifting hook and string section.

Have a listen for yourself, I bet you will love it too.

MY FAVOURIE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #58: MEEK MILL – ON MY WAY

My Favourite Record In The World Right Now comes from Meek Milly aka Meek Mill. After releasing a mixtape this month which had over a million downloads in one day Meek Mill is ready for world domination.

On My Way features on the mixtape Dreamchasers 2. The reason this track win’s this weeks title is because the message really resonated with me and my own personal journey at the moment. Meek talks about his struggle in the industry and how he’s trying to “make it to the top” a journey I’m also on. Having this as My Favourite Record In The World Right Now in the world right now was a no brainer so have a listen and fall in love with it too.

MY FAVOURIE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #57: MZ BRATT FT. KHALAELIAH – FALLING DOWN

This weeks favourite record in the worl comes from Atlantic Records signee Mz Bratt, one of the UK’s female MC’s who is making great music at the moment.

Her new single Falling Down features guest vocals from Khalaeliah who offers a nice balance ontop of Bratt’s flow. This track is full of emotion which is depicted well through the music video.

Have a listen and see if you love it as much as I do.

MY FAVOURIE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #56: ASHER ROTH FT. MEEK MILL – PARTY GIRL

Asher Roth is one of those guys that goes with the flow, he stays out of trouble (so it seems), doesn’t get involved with boring, outdated Hip Hop beef and caters for the fun crowds and also the harder Hip Hop heads through his mixtape work.

He’s a people’s person – he makes music for the people in a wider sense then just the “hustlers on the street” – I’m a middle class white kid and he’s aiming this material at me unlike other Hip Hop artists (although I obvisously love that as well, it just isn’t made for me… I digress…)

Asher is also one of the coolest guys I’ve met and had the pleasure of seeing play out live to a small crowd. I’ve also sat down in his hotel room, watched American Football and talked about music – this guy is VERY passionate about what he does.

His new single Party Gir samples the Eddie Murphy classic Party All The Time – no surprise that this is one of those records for the fun crowds and no surprise that it’s made it as my favourite record in the world right now.

Listen for yourself.

MY FAVOURIE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #55: FRANK OCEAN – WHIP APPEAL

This weeks favourite record in the world right now comes from nu-skool R&B/ Soul artist Frank Ocean. A man who needs no introduction to you guys. He has the new sound of R&B on lock and the world is loving it.

This latest offering from Ocean called Whip Appeal easily made it as this weeks fav record for three simple reasons:

1) It’s Frank Ocean
2) Amazing production
3) It’s Frank Ocean

Need I say anything else.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #54: SNEAKBO FT. L MARSHALL – SING FOR TOMORROW

Drake’s favourite UK rapper Sneakbo has a monster on his hands right here. Sing For Tomorrow features another huge up and coming artist by the name of L Marshall. This track has huge potential to take Sneakbo not only to a mainstream audience through some daytime radio play but also to the likes of America and beyond.

I won’t lie to you, I thought Sneakbo was a one trick pony after hearing that awful track he released last year called The Wave but this has really made me re think.

Sing For Tomorrow has a really inspiring and uplifting message and feel. Fused with strings and melodic piano behind Marshall’s soulful hook this track had my heart in the first 10 seconds.

I love it and I know you will too.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #53: LABRINTH – SWEET RIOT

Taken from Labrinth’s brand new debut album Electronic Earth this beast of a record Sweet Riot is by far my favourite record in the world right now.

Lab’s productions never fail to amaze me. His album has steered away from conventional pop/ hip hop and radio friendly edits, instead there are numerous 5 minute tracks, all of which would be very hard to cut down for radio play. There are so many different elements that make the track such as interesting break downs, huge drops and diverse outro’s which could easily be from a different song altogether.

Sweet Riot has all of these quirky elements which make Labrinth the hottest producer in the UK by far in 2012. Have a listen right here.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #52: CARLY RAE JEPSEN – CALL ME MAYBE

Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut single Call Me Maybe has made it as my favourite record in the world right now.

If you’ve never heard of Carly Rae before then I’ll fill you in a bit. She’s 26, born in Mission, British Columbia, Canada, she came 3rd in Canadian Idol and has since been hailed up by the one and only, the mighty Justin Bieber and his manager Scooter who has since signed Carly.

Now this isn’t a hardcore D&B record nor is it a chilled out summer Hip Hop track but this is a massive pop record and one I can’t seem to get out on my head. Have a listen dargs.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #51: RUDIMENTAL FT. MNEK & SYRON – SPOONS

Well what a beaut of a weekend we had in the UK, the sun was out and I was LOVING it. I’ve got a special mix coming next month as we get closer to the Ibiza season so look out for that and also podcast #119 comes out this coming Saturday.

So new week and I obviously have a new favourite record in the world right now. This week it comes from Rudimental featuring MNEK & Syron with this chilled out record called Spoons.

With the weather being so so nice in the UK at the moment this is a perfect fit. It’s chilled and will take you to another dimension. Perfect sunshine music right here, have a listen and enjoy.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #50: NNEKA – SHINING STAR (JOE GODDARD REMIX)

This beautiful soul clenching piece of music comes from Nigerian-German hip hop/soul singer and songwriter Nneka. You may remember Nneka from her track Heartbeat from back in 2009 which was famously remixed by Chase & Status.

She’s back for 2012 with her new album Soul is Heavy and this beaut Shining Star. My favourite record in the world right now is the remix by Joe Goddard who is making quite a name for himself at the moment.

This is the perfect track to be putting on for the summer sunrises/ sunsets, just imagine this with a nice beach and a refreshing drink in hand – it gets no better.

With bass, soul, emotion and melody to make you shake this is a big win for me, have a listen and see if you love it just as much.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #49: DELILAH FT. LIAM BAILEY – BREATHE

Yes to a new week and a new favourite record in the world right now. This week I am LOVING the new track from Delilah featuring Liam Bailey on vocals. Liam is an artist I know a lot of people are curious about, he featured on Blind Faith with Chase & Status last year and he also released a track called You Better Leave Me and I think or more I hope that 2012 will be the year we finally get some more music out of him, either way, this is a very good start.

Have a listen to this brilliant record.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #48: B.TRAITS FT. ELISABETH TROY – FEVER

If you love your old school D&B/ house records with a load of sick piano melodies and amazing female vocal then I think you may just be in luck.

The female DJ and producer B.Traits has made an absolute banger with her new single Fever.

This is hands down my favourite record in the world right now, listen to find out why.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #46: MADEON – ICARUS

It’s a new week so naturally I have a new favourite record in the world right now and this week it comes from a super talented French producer by the name of Madeon. Only 17 years old he isn’t even legal to step a foot past the DJ booth in the clubs, despite this he has found huge success through his YouTube videos and this track, Icarus has even made it onto BBC Radio 1′s daytime playlist – a VERY big deal.

This track is infused with fun disco vibes and house elements as well and I love it. See if you do to, I bet you do!

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #45: USHER & DIPLO – CLIMAX

I know I only posted this track up about 3 days ago but hey, it’s made it to the top spot in my life.

This unexpected combo of R&B vocals from Usher mixed with a mid tempo electro/ R&B production from Diplo has made it as my favourite record in the world right now. Listen and get involved.

MY FAVOURITE RECORD IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW #44: LABRINTH – LAST TIME

So, I totally forgot to post up my favourite record in the world right now for this week – sorry! This weekend was a bit mental so this is almost 4 days late.

My favourite record this week comes from Labrinth with his latest offering Last Time. I’ll be honest with you guys, at a first listen I wasn’t sold, but on the second listen I was ready to sign on the dotted line, I was won over.

Although the constant use of auto tune and vocoder does sometimes get in the way I am more than willing to over look it as this track just makes me smile and sing – always a good sign.

Have a listen here.
