Last night was the Brit Awards 2013, held at the 02 Arena in London and hosted by James Corden. Whilst most ‘music industry types’ were watching either at the 02 or at home, I was munching on BBQ ribs and chips in a resturant so I missed the show. Naturally, Twitter kept me up to date with the winners, losers and the general cringe TV moments.
After catching up on the show today, I have to say that it was a bit “meh.” There wasn’t ONE, not ONE scandal involing swearing, nakedness or outrageous behaviour from a popstar – what’s that all about? Instead the show ran smoothly without any noticeable hitches, it was a boring watch though – even JT’s performance of Mirrors was a tad on the boring side.

The woman of the night was Emeli Sande, I think I actually suffered from a rather mild Emeli Sande overload. She won British Album Of The Year award for Our Version of Events as well as the British Female Solo Artist award. Not only that but there was an interview with her, a performance from her, and most of the nominations were her or featured her – she is after all an amazing talent!

Oh my word, this is one hell of a line up! The two day Wireless Festival returns this year, it does however have a new home – Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park!
Performing on Friday 12th July is Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, Miguel, Frank Ocean with more to be announced, Saturday 13th includes Emeli Sande, Rita Ora, Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z – no biggie.
This is such an impressive list of names, I’m going to try and get down for the Friday if I can!

The world has gone Beyoncé mad after last nights INSANE performance at The Superbowl. A performance which saw Destinys Child back on stage, and one which got every mans eyes melting from the heat.
Highlights for me included Beyoncé saying “Dutty Wine” and her legs.
So after all of that insanity, Beyoncé had more for us – the announcement of a new world tour, “The Mrs. Carter Show,” her first tour in 3 years.
The show kicks off in Europe on April 15th and North America at the beginning of June 28th.

One of my favourite UK rappers PW, is all set to perform at his first headline show on Feb 26th in London.
If you listen to my Podcast you’ll already know about PW, the very talented 20 year old rapper from North London. If not, here’s a little reminder:
1) He’s toured with the likes of Mindless Behaviour, Dappy and Conor Maynard
2) His debut mixtape, New Kid On The Block gained PW some loyal fans and the attention of all those important music industry types

This morning my Twitter feed was going stir crazy after a Tweet from Mr JT. The Tweet which simply said:
“Thursday, January 10th, 2013 at 9:01 am PST…”
This got everyone excited and thinking that tonight, he would release a new single, reportedly produced by Timbaland, and featuring Jay-Z and Beyonce.
Well that didn’t happen. But then he Tweeted this:
“To whom it may concern…I think I’M READY! #JT2013″
with a link to this trailer teaser.
I for one cannot wait for this. I’m a huge JT fan and Justified is still one of my favourite albums of all time.

I’m a little bit shocked at this news, this is Rhi’s FIRST EVER US number 1 with an album? Seeing as she’s now on her 7th album I’m a bit surprised, I guess I just assumed that most of her albums go to number 1 – there’s a lesson there, never assume.
After finishing up a hard slogging 7 day tour in 7 countries in 7 days it has to be said that this is well deserved, the album itself is actually really good. Unapologetic offers her fans some really good R&B records, something which has been seriously lacking since the discovery of David Guetta!

Drake has officially taken over Hip Hop God Jay-Z in the running for a Hip Hop artists most number 1′s.
Drake recently appeared on the 2 Chainz single No Lie (which went to number 1) and thus making it Drake’s 10th number 1. This means he has officially beaten Jay-Z who only has 9.
Ouch.
I didn’t see this one coming. RedOne the man behind hits such as Lady GaGa’s Just Dance, JLo’s On The Floor and Nicki Minaj’s Starships has signed up with Cash Money.
Cash Money are not only the home to some of the biggest rap artists in the world (and Limp Bizkit?) they also hunt for the hottest talent and RedOne has ticked all the right boxes.
Slim aka Ronald Williams is the Co-Founder of Cash Money and also the brother of rapper and fellow Cash Money big wig Birdman. This is what he had to say about the RedOne signing:

First off sorry for the lack in posting over the last few days, it’s been non stop for me recently. In other news Ellie Goulding is back in full force and has announced some exciting news!
On Twitter this morning Ellie tweeted that her new album Halycon will be released in the UK on October 8th and the US the following day. The album will be co produced by her with the help of
Jim Elliot.
This is the news I’ve been waiting for ever since the release of her amazing debut Lights back in 2009. Since the day I brought it the album hasn’t left my car and I’m fairly certain it will be a similar story 3 years on.
After performing a very nice live version of his new single So Good for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge yesterday morning, Mr Bobby Ray has announced a UK tour.
With tickets going on sale from Friday 22nd June the tour will see B.o.B performing tracks from his first album and his 2nd, Strange Clouds.

A double wammy right here. Frank Ocean has announced plans for channel ORANGE – what is this I hear you ask, well, no one really knows, it’s either a mixtape, album or EP but whatever it is it’s Frank Ocean and we will love it.

Today is the day, I’m very excitd to announce the launch of my brand new DJ Academy.
DJing is where my career in the media started off, at the age of 12 with two CD players and my Dad’s old amplifier with a hall of school girls and myself playing S Club 7. I’d like to think that since then I’ve developed into a professional DJ who’s had experiences at small parties as the one described as well as clubs, on big artist tours in arenas and theatres as well as on TV shows. Each of these experiences has helped me develop as a DJ and I feel that now is the right time to help the next generation get their head start.
I taught myself all the skills and techniques I know today through listening to mixes on the radio and copying them on my first set of decks but, there are some people who prefer to be helped and told “this does this and this does that” and that is what this Academy can offer in a fun, interactive and informative way.
