My big sister Britt Love from Mini Viva fame has been working her backside off on new material. Since the split of the duo Britt has been locked in the studio writing new material. I’ve heard a lot of it and it sounds amazing, lots of disco and big dance numbers can be expected – no complaints from me!
This track can be downloaded for free from her Facebook site and is just a littler taster of what’s to come. Welcome back Britt.

NORMAL POSTING BELOW
From touring with Mini Viva, performing on stage in front of 60,000 with IYAZ at T4 on The Beach, voicing Kelly Rowland and Young Money’s TV and Radio adverts, presenting on BBC Radio 1Xtra and hanging out with the biggest names in music, Will Manning has been there and is a prime example of how the young talent is shining through in 2011.

I’ve had a musical look back at the year of 2010 and now its time for my own personal look back at the things I have achieved and done this year – basically a big ego boost for me.

The first week of 2010 was a great one for me, I was back on BBC Radio 1Xtra for the first weekend of the year and also in Feburary presenting the Weekend Breakfast Show. In May I was presenting for two weeks on the Chart Show which was really amazing and a lot of fun. A lot has been going on behind the scenes in terms of my radio work and It has really become clear to me this half of the year how sometimes I won’t achieve what other people are looking for, at the end of the day trying to please one person isn’t always possible but me knowing that I still love and live radio will get me to where I want to be eventually, just a bit more work to go! I’ve had my dream since I was eight years old and nothing is going to stop me getting to where I need to get.
At the beginning of the year I was still doing work with Mini Viva before they decided to go their seperate ways. In April we performed on Channel 4 programme KoKo Pop which was recorded at the famous KoKo venue in Camden to promote their single One Touch
My childhood dreams came true in May when we performed on childrens TV show Blue Peter. For those who live in the UK you will know how much of a big deal this is, every child grew up wishing they had a Blue Peter badge and this year I achieved that! It was a big day and one I will never ever forget. Click here to watch the videos from the day.
From April I began DJing for IYAZ during his promo for his follow up single from the massive Replay which was Solo. The first show we did together was on KoKo Pop again for Channel 4. I was really excited that day, he was an established name and was still getting a lot of love for his first single success so I was proud to be apart of the team. We did a load of TV promotion again in May with performances on The 5:19 Show on BBC 2, the biggest breakfast show in the UK on GMTV, Studio Five Live on Channel 5 and a recording for News of The World online.

In July we did our first audience performance with at Channel 4′s T4 on The Beach. There was a crowd of 60,000 people so this was a very, very big and exciting weekend. I met a lot of people I admire and it was fair to say it was a crazy weekend. Click here and here to view the photos from the weekend.
Here are the video diaries I did over the weekend.

In September IYAZ was back over in the UK but this time with Charice to promote their duet smash Pyramid. This track was huge in the US, Charice was discovered by the queen aka Oprah so shes kind of a big deal. We performed on MTV’s Suck My Pop, the afternoon show on ITV Loose Women and on Channel 5′s Studio Five Live. We also performed So Big which was the latest release from IYAZ on the MTV show. It was another crazy experience in this weird and wonderful world.
I’ve also had the honour of interviewing some people who I really admire – Tinchy Stryder and Asher Roth. The interview with Tinchy was all planned and organised to take place and was aimed to be around the release of his street single Gangsta? but the Asher interview was totally off the cuff and random. Me and my manager just ended up in Ashers hotel room and I happened to have some recording equipment on me – sometimes life is good to me like that.
I’ve also been the voice behind Kelly Rowland’s two single TV adverts this year – Commander and Forever and a Day.
So there it was, 2010 through my eyes and what a year its been. There has been so many ups and a few downs too but those downs only make me want to work even harder to achieve what I want so much and who knows, maybe 2011 will let me get it.

Even though I’ve known this news for about 5 months now today was the day that Mini Viva aka Britt Love and Frankee Connolly made the news public that Mini Viva have split and gone their seperate ways.
This was the statement on Britt’s website:
Hey everyone!
First off all we would like to apologise for not being able to tell you sooner what was going on with Mini Viva. It was something we had to decide for ourselves first and of course it was a big decision.
Both of us felt like the time was up for Mini Viva. We had tried so much and so had everyone who was supporting us. But sometimes things just don’t work out the way you would like them to. We would just like to take this time to thank every single one of you for supporting us on our journey! We could not have asked for more loyal fans than you guys!
We both had the most amazing time as Mini Viva, we travelled to amazing places and met some wonderful people. We will cherish the memories forever. We would love you to keep supporting us along our different paths. You guys and girls have been so incredibly supportive, everything we did as apart of Mini Viva we are incredibly proud of!
Thank you so much we hope you will stay in touch and support us both like you did with Mini Viva, this is far from a goodbye this is just the beginning! :-)

So there you go, it’s official. These girls were like my sisters for a very long time, we were on tour with The Saturdays together last Summer, we toured all over the UK last Christmas turning on lights and I had my first TV debut on Nickelodeon with them, we were on Blue Peter, Channel 4… we had a great time together and it was an honour being with them from the beginning. My career in this weird world of music began with them and I had the first time to showcase myself infront of thousands of people whilst on tour with them, I learnt so so much and valued every second we spent together, I couldn’t have asked for two better people to spend so much time with, truley brilliant and talented ladies.
I look forward to hearing the solo material from both girls and yes you will hear all about it on here first!

Last night I was lucky enough to go and check out the full Diversity show in all its glory. Aggro Santos opened the show performing 4 songs including his new track ‘Candy’ which got the whole crowd going mad, my girlfriend later spoke to him backstage in Portuguese – they are both from Brazil.

Mini Viva then came on. I hardly ever get to see them do their thing properly as I’m always behind them (steady) so when I do it’s always a really exciting and proud experience! They sang ‘Tokyo,’ ‘I Wish,’ ‘Emotions of Love’ and ‘One Touch’ they were amazing, I was buzzing.

On to Diversity who just tore the roof off with the amount of screams from the crowd. Their show was basically a story of them being toy versions of the real Diversity dance crew and they are on a mission to find some top secret plans.. or something like that, to be honest I was a bit too amazed by the dancing to pay much attention to the storyline. Trust me though, it was brilliant.

Today was very busy. First stop was the famous KoKo nightclub in Camden, London to film a brand new programme for Channel 4 called ‘KoKo Pop’ – see what they did there? Took me a while I won’t lie. I was DJing for my girls Mini Viva who were performing their new single ‘One Touch’ which is out on May 10th. N-Dubz, Professor Green and Sophie Ellis Bexter were all there as well as Lee Ryan from boyband ‘Blue’ fame who was there promoting his new single.

I had forgotten what it was like to do things like this and have a dressing room with a fridge full of drinks and a lot of free food so naturally I took total advantage of this. At 2:00pm we soundchecked and got everything ready for the recording with a live audience later in the day.

There is a lot of waiting around when doing TV shows, we wern’t set to record until 4pm so In the meantime the girls get their hair and make up done and I…. got my hair done? Yup! The hair stylist is crazy in a good way, very funny man who said I was a “trend setter” – yeah right.

4:00pm came around and they killed it with the performance. The programme will go out on May 1st at 12:25 on Channel 4 so be sure to be tuned in! Throughout the day me and the girls were filming behind the scenes videos so I’ll get them up on here soon.
After the show we headed to Hammersmith Apollo. Mini Viva are currently on the road supporting the dance group Diversity around the UK and tonight it was London’s turn for the 2nd time to hear and see what they had to offer.

I watched from the side of the stage and again, they killed it with their performance. They are performing at Hammersmith Apollo again tomorrow night so I’m going back to check out the full Diversity show which I’m sure will be insane.
Days like today really make me appreciate how amazing my job is. That is all, thanks for reading.

Don’t mean to flood you with Mini Viva posts recently but the artwork for the single ‘One Touch’ looks like this…

Slick! Me likey a lot.

YES PLEASE! Here is a sick remix of Mini Viva’s new single ‘One Touch’ by Wideboys. Britt from Mini Viva played me this a month or so ago and my head couldn’t stop bopping and my feet couldn’t stop tapping – always a good sign!

They are currently on tour with Diversity all around the UK doing their thang! Go gurls.
Filed under: Blog | Tags: 2009, 2009 Roundup, Album of The Year, Artist of The Year, Artists to Look Out For In 2010, BBC, BBC 1xtra, Best Songs, Breakthrough Artists, Mini Viva, Most Controversial Topic of 2009, Personal Achievements, Pixie Lott, The Saturdays, Will Manning, Work Tour
As 2009 comes to a close its only right that we look back at some of the best and even worst parts of the year in music. There were a lot of hot albums, big new artists on the scene and personal highlights as well. So let’s break it down.
Album of The Year
Beyonce released her album “I Am Sasha Fierce”
Rihanna released “Rated R”
Eminem “Relapse”
Black Eyed Peas “The E.N.D”
Dizzee Rascal “Tounge N Cheek”
Chipmunk “I Am Chipmunk”
Mr Hudson “Straight No Chaser”
Keri Hilson “In A Perfect World”
The Dream “Love vs Money”
Tinchy Stryder “Catch 22”
Kid Cudi “Man On The Moon”
Despite the majority of these albums (maybe not Ri Ri) being hot there can only be one winner for this category:
Jay-Z with “Blueprint 3” – without sounding too predicable Jay-Z came back on top form. With tracks such as D.O.A, Run This Town, Young Forever and Empire State of Mind which was possibly the biggest Hip Hop song of 2009. Jay-Z made himself relevant to mainstream audiences and stations such as Radio 1 playlisted his music for daytime shows.

Breakthrough Artists
There are a few guys which deserve a mention here:
Jay Sean, not a necessarily a new face but in terms of breaking through to the mass mainstream audience Jay Sean certainly achieved that he even got a number 1 in the US.

Asher Roth, had the massive single “I Love College” and the album “Asleep In The Bread Aisle”

Kid Cudi, his album was edgy and simply amazing, the massive track “Day N Nite” continued to cause mayhem through to 2009 as well.

Drake, aka Drizzy – had the biggest mixtape of 2009, in my opinion it was better than most albums we heard this year. 2010 will be a crazy year for him.

Most Controversial Topic of 2009
Chris Brown vs Rihanna – Chris Brown released on $50,000 (£34,800) bail after being charged with felony assault and making criminal threats, also a felony.
Best Songs
So many massive singles were released this year in the world of Hip Hop and R&B and of course the million other genres I’m feeling as well, here is a quick run down of what was hot:
Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers, this track took over dance floors around the World and killed it on the radio.
Mr Hudson Ft. Kanye West – Supernova, Mr Hudson is unleashed to the mainstream World and Yeezy featuring you can’t go wrong for your first smash can you?
Chipmunk - Oopsy Daisy, one of the catchiest hooks of 2009 , Chip put the work in this year.
Ciara Ft. Justin Timberlake – Love, Sex, Magic, a song which still gets rinsed on radio and in clubs. The return of Ciara this year, yup the album was a flop but this song was hot.
Keri Hilson Ft. Kanye West & Ne-Yo – Knock You Down, another mainstream hit which took over the World. Keri Hilson did her thing this year and she did it well! This double star calabo was a winner.
Jay-Z Ft. Alicia Keys – Empire State of Mind, as I said above this was probably the biggest Hip Hop song of 2009. The World was singing the hook.
Drake - Best I Ever Had, just an instant classic.
Tinchy Stryder – You’re Not Alone, Tinchy took the electro/ pop/ hip hop genre to another level.
Beyonce - Single Ladies, the first number 1 in 2009 and a massive smash to add to Beyonce’s growing list.
Wale Ft. Lady GaGa – Chillin, with Lady GaGa featuring on the track it was an instant mainstream hit with a catchy hook and Cool & Dre on the beat.
JLS - Beat Again, love them or hate them, JLS took over this year in pop.
Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow, the hit makers did it again, Boom Boom Pow was a song which you just couldn’t escape from this year no matter how hard you tried.
Tinchy Stryder Ft. N-Dubz – Number 1, out of 23 songs with the title ‘Number 1′ this was the only track to actually reach the top spot!
Eminem – We Made You, the return of Eminem and his weird rapping voice.
Boy Better Know – Too Many Man, a massive Summer anthem, BBK put in the work this year.
Artist of The Year

Last year on my blog I named Dizzee Rascal the Artist of 2008, well he did it again! No one can deny Dizzee’s work ethic. He has done numerous tours, festivals, broken through to the mainstream audiences, he headlined the BBC Electric Proms and 1Xtra Live in Sheffield as well as having 2 number 1′s this year with ‘Bonkers’ and ‘Holiday.’ He released his album “Tounge N’ Cheek” on his own record label Dirtee Skank in September which reached number 3 in the UK. It is without a doubt a fact that Dizzee Rascal deserves the title of Artist of The year for 2009.
Artists to Look Out For In 2010
Having recently signed an album deal with EMI records it’s fair to say that the UK’s very own Tinie Tempah will be an artist to look out for in 2010.

I don’t really need to mention Drake, it’s a no brainer but I will anyway. 2010 will see the release of Drake’s debut album which I’m sure I can safley say will be a smash.

Having had a top 20 hit with ‘Watch The Sun Come Up’ Example is set for greatness in 2010 with his album “Won’t Go Quietly” due for release in April.
My Personal Year
As well as all these artists having a huge 2009 It’s only fair that I speak on my own personal achievements I’ve had this year.
Mini Viva

This Summer I became the official tour DJ of the new girl group Mini Viva. We did a national tour of the UK supporting The Saturdays on their “Work Tour” alongside Pixie Lott playing at venues such as Cardiff Arena to 8,000 people. This was a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to go on a tour, getting on stage infront of thousands and soaking up the atmosphere – seriously words can’t describe what it’s like looking out from the stage and seeing all those thousands of people, something I will never forget. The experience of being in a different city everyday, life on the road, the backstage antics and the shows themself were amazing. I also learnt a lot about the music industry as a whole. We also performed at many christmas light switch on events, one being Manchester Trafford Centre to 14,000 people, a very proud moment.
BBC 1Xtra

I think since I was 6 years old I’ve wanted to be on the radio. I’ve always told myself I would make it and have my own show – well I’m not quite there but this year I did finally, after years of dreaming make it onto live, legal and worldwide radio on BBC 1Xtra filling in on the weekend breakfast show on numerous occasions. I remember before my first time arriving at Radio 1/ 1Xtra HQ in the summer for my week of demo recordings, it was during the week of tour rehursals so everything was happening at the same time, I thought I was dreaming. Walking into the building was surreal, seeing presenters such as Jo Whiley, Chris Moyles, Reggie Yates and Edith Bowman all walking past me was surreal. I felt very, very proud to have even stepped foot into the building – something many people dream of and never get to do. I remember before my first show on the 19th September, it was 5:59am, 1 minute before I was due to go on air for the first time and I thought to myself “Wow I’m really doing this.” – the whole 1Xtra experience has been unreal.
I’m looking forward to 2010 with hope theres much more to come from myself. Thanks for all the support on the blog, Podcast and radio work and thanks to everyone who’s supported this year in general, see you in 2010.
