Ok it’s been almost a month since the last classic Monday but it’s back. What better way to start your week than with a classic record!
This weeks track comes from Fat Joe featuring Ashanti with Whats Luv?. This reached The number 4 in the UK chart and at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, it stayed there for 20 weeks back in 2002.
To this day, 12 years on this still sounds so big.

Another Monday, another classic track to start your week with. I’m still off travelling by the way, currently in Italy!
This weeks classic is from Cassidy with his 2003 hit Hotel. I remember downloading this track and burning it onto CD however I was really annoyed because the version I downloaded had the first beat of the intro cut off – that still bugs me to this day, life eh.

It’s me, Will. I’m currently somewhere around Europe with a big backpack on my back and I’m probably very tired but having an amazing time, either way it’s Monday and that means one thing – Classic Monday’s time!
Nelly’s Ride Wit Me has and always will be a summer classic, ever since its release back in April 2001.
Even if it’s raining where you are, this will bring the sun out.

Now THIS is what I call an R&B record. Next released Wifey on 16th May 2000, 12 years ago! Believe it or not this only reached number 56 in the US Billboard Top 100 – a crime in my opinion, this is such a big track, if only there was more R&B records like this around today.

This weeks Classic Monday’s record is from 1998, can you cast your minds back that far? I have no idea what I was doing but it was probably something involving a microphone, a karaoke machine and S Club 7.
1998 was also the year that Lauryn Hill released this insane record, Everything Is Everything – and this fully deserves the place as this weeks Classic Monday’s. Enjoy!

Well for some reason this didn’t post up yesterday so make this a classic Monday on a Tuesday! This weeks Classic Monday’s comes from the year 2003. Marques Houston released this classic R&B club banger which features the odd word or two from Jermaine Dupri.
Pop That Booty made it to number 23 in the UK Charts and to this day I still love to play this out when I DJ, the girls seem to love it.
Where is Marques Houston these days?

Every Monday I post up a classic track as a blast from the past to kick start the week. Today I have a right old corker for you!
Eve, born Eve Jihan Jeffers was the Ruff Ryders first lady after joining the team in 1998, she was also the first female rapper to hit the Billboard Top 200 number 1 spot – not bad really!
This track, Who’s That Girl? was released back in 2001, it was taken from Eve’s second album Scorpion and is a summer SMASH.

So following on from Jesse McCartney, JoJo and N*Sync (I really do love pop don’t I) here we have Roy Ayers with the summer classic Everybody Loves The Sunshine. This track oozes summer, the soul, the melody – everything about this track expresses what the summer is about.
The UK has had a week of sun – I know how amazing. It has been so nice and today is probably the last day of this freak heat we’ve had (hopefully not for the whole of the summer) and so I thought this track was the most appropriate as this weeks Classic Monday’s track.
Where ever you are in the world please sit back, relax, pour a glass of pimms/ any other summer drink of your choice and just enjoy this classic record.
Filed under: Classic Mondays | Tags: Classic Mondays, Girlfriend, Listen, N*Sync, Nelly, The Neptunes
I really need to stop posting up the Classic Monday’s tracks 5 minutes before Tuesday morning, I have no excuse their – sorry!
This week, as promised ISN’T a pop record. Instead this is a classic from the world of R&B… Ok fine this is a pop AND R&B track but it’s SO SO good and isn’t cheesy at all.
Remember N*Sync? The group which saw the launch of Justin Timberlake’s career? Well they had this amazing track Girlfriend produced by The Neptunes and featuring Nelly (he was big at the time). This track is always on in my car during the summer and I still love it to this day after being released back in 2002.
This weeks Classic Monday (slash nearly Tuesday morning) is from one of my favourite pop artists ever, her name is JoJo. I first heard her debut track Leave (Get Out) whilst on holiday in the US (a bit like Jesse, last weeks track) I instantly loved it and when I left America I was not only sad to say bye to Micky Mouse but also to this song which was being constantly played on the radio.
I got back to the UK, put on the radio and what did I hear? Yup JoJo, I screamed to my sister and she ran down stairs and we probably did some kind of dance of excitement as well.
This track has a big place in my life. I promise not to have a pop track which reminds me of my holiday’s in the US every week, next week it’s R&B.

So it’s official, this is the re launch of Classic Monday’s the much loved old feature of this very website. Let’s kick things back off with one of my favourite pop songs EVER.
This track was released in 2004 in the US and it was constantly being played on a station I used to be obsessed with called Radio Disney over in America. Everytime I went over to America this was the station of choice, playing brilliant American pop music and this was a track they just loved to play.
Jesse McCartney used to be in a boyband called Dream Street (they will be making an appearence on this feature in the future), he then went solo and released a few good tracks including one called She’s No You but this was by far my favourite.
Jesse McCartney with Beautiful Soul.
Classic Monday’s is a feature I used to every Monday believe it or not and I’ve decided to bring it back. I used to just celebrate all things urban however this time around I want to throw in tracks which were the soundtrack to my younger teen life – I’m talking classic pop records!
I’m not going to hold back at all kicking off with a great pop track from 2004 – find out what it is on Monday… ooh the suspense!
