Here is another one of my guilty pleasures which I’m not afraid to admit to you, the world.
So… Spongebob Squarepants. Yes, that loveable yellow square who lives in a pineapple under the sea – you know the one.
Despite this being deemed as a kids cartoon there is something so likeable about this yellow sponge. The situations he gets himself into, the good morals he has and sticks to and his relationship with his friends – god that makes me sound so sad but it’s all the reasons why I love this sponge.
In a way I’m sure this cartoon was really made for the older audience or am I just immature, actually I already know the answer to that.
So there you go, I admit it, I love Spongebob Squarepants. Long live that sponge.

This has to be one of my favourite scenes from TV in the world. The Office is my favourite programmes of all time, so simple, so so clever and hilarious on every level.

On Sunday night I was back hosting at the monthly One Mic show at Queen of Hoxton, London. As always there was a whole load of brilliant talent waiting to show the crow what they’ve got and some of them had a lot to show off about!
The line up was Marvin Ambrosius, ID & Friends, Marie Dhalstrom, Beckwith and Kieron Boothe.
I’ll be back on hosting duties on Feb 19th.

Rising star Cynikal has very kindly given away another track for us to download and embrace. This time he jumps on a Rick Ross instrumental and give’s it a Cynikal refix.

So gutted I missed out on this show from Childish Gambino who was performing in London this week. Here is the performance of the beautiful All The Shine with a helping hand from the UK’s rap king Sway.

Well this is interesting. Simon Cowell aka Mr Talent Show has teamed up with the Smith’s (Will Smith and his wife Jada) Overbrook Entertainment.
Simon has said that:
DJs are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show.
Hmm. By DJ’s being the new rock stars does he mean people like David Guetta who is more of a producer who mimes behind the decks or REAL DJ’s like Jazzy Jeff who have turntabalist skills? I just bloody hope it’s the second option otherwise it will be actually a really boring watch.
Any DJ friends signing up then? I think I may just give it a shot, though I did sign up for the first series of Britains Got Talent and got through to the first round of the producers, after I explained the idea of DJing live in TV I didn’t hear back, clearly they’ve had a change of heart and think it could work.
No other deets of the show have been announced but from reading the press release Syco seem sure that this will be a world wide success – time will tell.
This has only made me want to travel and get out of uni more than ever.
STA Travel sent three mates on a mission to cram 44 days, 10 countries, 38,000 miles and 18 flights into one minute of sublime travel movie making. The result? MOVE — one epic journey and the experience of a lifetime for Andy.
SO. GOOD.

Elle Varner is probably a name you haven’t heard of before, unless you are a podcast listener when you would have heard me play her track Only Wanna Give It To You late 2011 (new music first on my podcast hint hint). Elle is 22 from LA who makes some serious sounding R&B. This is her first mixtape titled Conversational Lush and I’m really hoping it helps spread the word of her voice and music, too often we hear a brilliant new R&B artist(s) and then we never hear from the artist again i.e. Cheri Dennis, Cherish etc.

The third release from Maverick Sabre No One is all ready for release on February 6th as is his debut album (released on the same day). Whilst I don’t enjoy this track as much as Let Me Go and I Need I still really like the vintage motown sound and love everything Maverick is about – pure focus on the music being produced as opposed to the image.

I know, two Yasmin posts in one day but this is a pretty good live performance of one of her tracks 5 Minutes, great hook.

Meet Nina Nesbitt, 17 years old from Glasgow, still at school and just jamming at the weekends with a guitar? Not quite. Last year opened up three shows for Example, opened up for Ed Sheeran and she features in Ed’s latest video for his new single Drunk not only that but she is also a pro model as well (actually stunning).
As with many other up and coming talents Nina has recorded various covers on her YouTube channel but also has her Live Take EP out now, off which this song is from, Skeletons.
You can catch Nina at the following dates:
2nd Feb – Glasgow Beanscene (Woodlands Road) – Headline Show
1st May – Birmingham NAI – w/Example
3rd May – Belfast Odyssey Arena – w/Example
5th May – Leeds Millennium Square – w/Example
6th May – Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon – w/Example
By mixing folk and indie in a modern way with Ellie Goulding influences scattered through her songs my ears are loving Nina’s sound.
Watch out girls, there’s a new girl in town.

The video I posted up on here last week wasn’t the official video for Drunk this one however is. Featuring a ginger sensation and cats, this is Drunk.

Eric Turner, who you may know from Tinie’s Written In The Stars is all ready to let the world hear his new mixtape titled Stylechanger. On podcast 114 I played a new track from him featuring Lupe and Wretch called Angels & Stars which has Electronic, Rock and Hip Hop influences – a real mixed bag which can appeal to a wide audience.
This is the lead track from the new mixtape featuring two of the UK’s biggest rappers and Canadian Kardinal Offishall.
Warning: Your eyes may hurt watching this video.

A new offering from the UK’s Estelle. It must have been really hard as an artist to try and come off the back of a huge track like American Boy, I feel like she has struggled to get any other music out there that can be appreciated (just the feeling I get when I’ve heard her latest material) this track however, written by Akon, feels right. Pouring with soul and a relaxed warm feel, I really like the sound of this record.
Her new album, All Of Me is released in the UK on March 13th.

Yasmin’s latest offering Light Up (The World) recently got it’s release and to celebrate she has teamed up with her old friends at SB.TV to offer this new angle on the single. With help form the Lonsdale Boys Club Yasmin gives her single a Reggae feel, I like!
